Men's Basketball tussles with Franciscan

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 24) -- The Thiel College Men's Basketball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) interdivisional matchup with Franciscan University 68-53 Saturday afternoon on Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.

The Tomcats dip to 4-12 (1-7) while the Barons of the South Division rise to 13-4 (5-3).

Isaiah Gonzalez (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) paced the Thiel offense with 10 points for his second straight 10-plus point showing. He corralled five boards and was 4-of-7 from the field. Kadenne Kemp (Inglewood, Cali./Northgate (Pa.)) snagged a career-and-contest most 15 rebounds while swatting a career-best four shots to go with 9 points.

John DiCecco (Indianapolis, Ind./Lebanon) added 9 points and five rebounds while Anthony Henderson II (Miramar, Fla./Somerset Academy) pitched in 8 points and went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Das Sanders (Dallas, Texas/Fort Worth Christian) had 6 points and rebounds apiece.

Franciscan carried a 34-21 lead into the break, but the Tomcats played almost even in the second half, being narrowly outscored 34-32.

As a team, the Blue and Gold had a season-high-tying seven blocked shots.

Thiel is back in action Wednesday for a home PAC North clash with Westminster at 7:30 p.m.
