SHARON, Pa. (Sept. 6) -- The Thiel College Women's Golf team placed 3rd of 7 at the Thiel Invitational from Avalon at Buhl CC Saturday.
Washington & Jefferson took the team title with 329 strokes while Saint Vincent was second with 361 strokes. Thiel came in third with 380 strokes while Grove City was fourth with 381 strokes and Franciscan was fifth with 383. Mount Aloysius and Geneva rounded out the last two spots.
Madison Sharek of Geneva and Lauren Kardos of Grove City both carded a 76. Kardos won the scorecard playoff for the individual title.
For Thiel,
Emily Eutsey (Jones Mills, Pa./Mount Pleasant) tied for12th with 90 strokes. She bogeyed each of the last eight holes on the front nine and had six bogeys along with a par on the back nine.
Kelsi Hefner (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) carded a 91 to place 14th. She had a pair of pars and six bogeys on the front nine to go with six bogeys on the last nine.
Megan Bull (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) carded a 99 to finish tied for 21st. She had eight bogeys and one par for the round.
Grascen Reyburn (Franklin, Pa./Rocky Grove) totaled 100 strokes to tie for 23rd. Reyburn had seven bogeys and one par for the invitational.
The Tomcats return to action Monday, Sept. 15 at the Saint Vincent Invitational from Latrobe CC.
