ERIE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Women's Volleyball team took a 3-1 win over Bluffton University and 3-1 victory over SUNY Fredonia in games one and two of the Penn State Behrend tournament Friday night.
Thiel advanced to 3-2 on the regular season with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 33-35, and 25-19 in game one and 25-23, 25-19, 17-25, and 22-11 in game two.
Game 1
Thiel out-dug Bluffton 71-57, 60-42 in kills, and 59-41 in assists in all four sets.
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) logged a match best of 22 kills on .213 hitting. Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) dished out 53 assists and had 16 digs to help the Tomcat defense. Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kan./Mineral Ridge) was right there with Reynolds and had 15 digs in game one.
Game 2
The Tomcats out dug the Devils 48-36 and in kills 37-35 in game two.
In the fourth set, Thiel took a 16-8 lead and ran the offense to ultimately take the 25-11 victory.
Reynolds led the team in assists with 28 as Aulet let in digs with 15. Jenness had a match-high pf 15 kills and Arin DeLattre (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) had nine.
The Tomcats return to action Saturday, September 6 to take on Houghton and Penn State Behrend to finish off their tournament weekend.
