GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Men's Soccer team dropped their non-conference match-up 1-0 to the University of Pitt Bradford Wednesday night from Alumni Stadium at Stober Field.
Thiel falls to 1-2 on the regular season, as the Panthers advance to 1-1-1.
Midfielder Grant Becker (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) led the Tomcat offense with five shots, including a penalty kick to potentially tie the Panthers with 15 minutes remaining in the second half. However, UPB's Christopher House made a great diving save to the left to keep the Panthers up 1-0.
Tomcats Mitchell Strauss (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area), Derek Thomas (Poland, Ohio/Poland), Pierson Badowski (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), and Mason Melaragno (Erie, Pa./Fairview) all had several great chances on the forward front for Thiel but ultimately was unable to even things up.
Goalkeeper Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) made four saves on the night after facing 13 shots.
The Tomcats are back in action on Sunday, September 7 when they host Alma College at 12 p.m. from Alumni Stadium at Stober Field.
