HIRAM, Ohio -- The Thiel College Men's Soccer team fell at Hiram College Wednesday evening in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener from Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium.
The Tomcats fall to 3-5 (0-1) while the Terriers improve to 5-3 (1-0).
The home side netted its first goal of the night with 7 seconds remaining in the first half and added its second goal on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
Andy Mangold (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) nearly knotted things 11 minutes into the second half, but his shot hit off the right post. He along with
Mitchell Strauss (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) each had three shots on the evening. The Tomcats totaled 11 shots for the contest, with one coming on goal from Strauss.
Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) got the start between the pipes and made four saves.
Thiel returns to action Saturday at Saint Vincent for another PAC clash beginning at 5 p.m.
