GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Baseball team dropped their non-conference one nine inning game 15-4 to Penn State Behrend Lions Thursday afternoon at Tomcat Park.
Behrend got on the board hot in the first with a triple to right center to bring in two runs and go up 2-0.
Thiel responded with a double to center field from JT Gerly Jr. and a sacrifice fly from Aiden Oches to bring in Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) and Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) to tie it 2-2 in the bottom of the second.
At the top of third, the Lions scored two more runs off a sacrifice fly and a double to left field to go up 4-2.
At the bottom of the third inning, Nathen Prunty (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) singled to right field to advance Chase Morrison (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) to third. Morrison scored off a groundout from Calvin Cackowski (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe).
Prunty scored off a passed ball from the catcher when bases were loaded to tie 4-4.
Behrend took the last three innings to score 11 runs to take the win.
Cackowski and Bintrim had two hits apiece, Cackowski with an RBI.
The Tomcat's are back in action on Friday, April 18 when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. To take on the Chatham Cougars. The PAC doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. at West Field.
