GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 14) -- The Thiel College Men's Volleyball team will take on St. Joseph's-Long Island in the play-in round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday at 6:30 p.m. from Holekamp Gymnasium on the campus of Washington and Lee University. Southern Virginia University is the region host.
With a victory, Thiel would advance to the first round for a matchup with host Southern Virginia.
The Tomcats capped a record-setting regular season by claiming the first ever Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship with a sweep of Grove City Saturday in front of a raucous crowd at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium to earn the programs first NCAA Tournament berth.
Thiel is one of the hottest teams entering the Tournament as they have won 15 consecutive matches, a program record. The Blue and Gold also set a program record for wins in a season with 22.
St. Joseph's-Long Island claimed the Skyline Conference championship with a 3-1 win over New Jersey City. The Golden Eagles finished the regular season 22-8 with a perfect 18-0 conference mark.
Three play-in round matches will be played Thursday while first-round action will begin Friday. The quarterfinals will take place Saturday. The national semifinals will take place Friday, April 25, with the championship slated for Sunday the 27th. The final two rounds will be hosted by Roanoke College at the Creger Center.
