GREENVILLE, Pa. (March 27) -- The Thiel College Baseball team dropped a non-conference showdown with Hiram College 14-2 Thursday afternoon at Tomcat Park.

The Tomcats drop to 4-14 (0-2 PAC) while the Terriers rise to 7-6.

Nathen Prunty (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) clubbed his third homer of the year, a solo shot over the left-field fence, in the fourth inning to get Thiel on the board and make it 4-1. 

Prunty finished 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. He has reached base safely in each of the last 12 games, a career high. In that stretch, Prunty has hit .442 (19-for-43), driven in 18 runs, raked four doubles, gone yard three times and drawn five walks. His average has risen from .208 at the beginning of the stretch to .358 today. Prunty has had at least one RBI in 9 of the 12 games and at least one hit in 11 of the 12. 

Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) and Chase Morrison (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) each collected one hit in the defeat. Morrison has collected a hit in 6-of-7 games and 12 of the last 14 contests. 

Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) got the start for Thiel and worked 2.1 innings with one strikeout. He gave up 2 unearned runs and was credited with the loss, falling to 0-3.

Baseball returns to action Saturday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader with Bethany College at 1 p.m. from Tomcat Park.
