Melin's career day powers Men's Lacrosse past La Roche 25-9

Parker wins program-record 29 faceoffs

GREENVILLE, Pa. (March 22) -- Thiel College Men's Lacrosse senior attacker Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) collected his 100th career point as Men's Lacrosse cruised past La Roche University 25-9 Saturday afternoon in non-conference play from the Rissell-Schreyer Dome. 

The Tomcats rise to 1-6 on the year while the Redhawks drop to 0-5. 

Melin logged two goals in the first quarter then added four each in the second and third quarter to finish with a career-best 10 goals. He dished out a career-high three assists to finish with a career-pacing 13 points. His marks in goals and points are both good for second best in program history for a single game. Melin added four ground ball pickups.

Austin Parker (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) won a program-record 29 faceoffs and corralled a career-high 20 ground balls, which is tied for the second most in a game in Thiel history. Parker also logged the first two goals of his career in the dominant win.

Thadd Bell (Erie, Pa./McDowell) set career bests in goals (four), points (6) and ground balls (seven) as he tied his career best in assists (two). Quentin Cato (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) scored the first two goals of his career and added an assist for a career-best 3 points.

Logan Millie (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) set career marks in goals (five) and ground balls (nine) while finishing with 6 points. Senior defender Justin Mason (Alden, N.Y./Alden Central) scored the first goal of his career and set a new career mark with nine ground balls.

Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) scored his first career goal and had two ground balls while Hunter Crouse (Lyndhurst, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) nabbed two ground balls.

Ethan Narby (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) made 10 saves and collected his first win of the season.

Men's Lacrosse returns to action next Saturday when they host Bethany for Senior Day at noon.
