Men's Lacrosse drops season opener to Marietta

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 15) -- The Thiel College men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener to non-conference foe Marietta College 28-4 Saturday afternoon at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.

The Tomcats drop to 0-1 while the Pioneers rise to 1-0.

Ethan Narby (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) totaled a career-high-tying 21 saves in goal and grabbed a career- and game-best 10 ground balls. He had 21 saves at Bethany in the season finale last season.

The Blue and Gold tallied three goals in the third period as Thad Bell got the Tomcats on the board off of a Justin Mason (Alden, N.Y./Alden Central) assist. Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) added his first of three goals for the game from a Quentin Cato (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) assist. Melin's second goal came off of a Narby helper and his third goal came from a Logan Millie (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) assist in the fourth quarter.

Cato, Narby and Millie's assists were the first in each player's collegiate careers.

Bell grabbed five ground balls while Mason and Melin each snatched three.

Men's Lacrosse returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 26, for a home contest with Mount Union at 7 p.m.
