GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Women's Basketball team fell to the Franciscan Barons 59-46 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match-up Saturday afternoon.
The Tomcats honored seniors Giana Arnese (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale), Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge), Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser), and Taylor Susany (Struthers, Ohio/Struthers) prior to the contest.
After a tough fought first quarter, the Tomcats bounced back and outscored the Barons 20-8 to lead 28-21 at the half and was able to keep Franciscan to 9-41 (22%) from the field.
Sophomore Josie Lewis (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) and freshman Bria Ringloff (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) led Thiel's offense with a combined 23 points and 17 rebounds.
Lewis put up team high 12 points, season best eight rebounds, played a total of 30 minutes, and went 5-9 from the field.
Ringloff picked up 11 points, a team high nine rebounds, and played 28 minutes.
Jensen Stehlik (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) and Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) both added 6 points each, while Stehlik grabbed seven rebounds and Green dished out five assists.
Lyndzee Amory (Edinboro, Pa./Saegertown) also had six rebounds and snatched two steals.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday, February 5th, when they take on the Bethany Bison at home. The PAC match-up will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's at 7:30 p.m. The Women's team will also be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sport Day (NGWSD) prior to the contest.
