CLEVELAND, Ohio (Nov. 22) -- The Thiel College Women's Basketball team fell 91-50 at Case Western Reserve University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference clash from Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland.
The Tomcats dip to 2-3 on the young season while the Spartans, members of the University Athletic Association, rise to 4-1. The matchup was the fifth all time between the two schools and the first since 2018.
Emily Betsinger (Indiana, Pa./Indiana), the reigning PAC Newcomer of the Week, continued her solid play down low with a team-best 12 points on 6-of-10. She corralled a team-best-tying seven rebounds and led the Tomcats with a pair of blocks while recording one steal.
Kayley Risser (Reynoldsville, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) logged 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting and 3-of-4 at the stripe while grabbing three boards and swiping a pair of steals.
Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) stuffed the stat sheet with 9 points, four boards, a team-high-tying three assists and a game-high-tying three steals.
Women's Volleyball's
Caitlin Stephens (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) made her collegiate debut in the contest. She notched 5 points on 5-of-6 from the charity stripe and tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.
The two sides were nearly even in fast-break points as the Tomcats had 14 to the Spartans' 16.
Thiel is back in action Monday evening for a 5:30 non-conference showdown at Buffalo State.
