Tomcats enter conference play at .500 with win over Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Thiel College Women's Basketball picked up their third win of the season 71-51 over Buffalo State on the road Monday evening.

Thiel advances to .500 on the year with a 3-3 record as the Bengals drop to 0-4 on the year.

A close start to the match had the Tomcats only up by three points to end the first quarter. Out the gate into the second, Kayley Risser (Reynoldsville, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) started Thiel off with a jumper 12 seconds along with a block on the defensive end.

Led by Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian), Thiel exploded into the second half with a 22-point third quarter, holding the Bengals to only seven in the third quarter.

Despite only dropping eight in the fourth, the Tomcats were able to hang on and take the 20-point victory.

Green had a record night dropping 21 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out eight assists for her first career double double. She grabbed seven steals and went 7-13 from the field.

Emily Betsinger (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) remained consistent, putting up 11 points, grabbed six boards, and had two steals.

Risser was close to her second double-double of the season by dropping 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

The Tomcats return to action with a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) home opener against Hiram College. The PAC contest will be on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at 5:30 p.m. for Faculty and Staff Appreciation night.
