TRAFFORD, Pa. (Oct. 13) -- Thiel College Women's Volleyball senior outside hitter
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday Evening.
Jenness paced the Thiel offense with 33 kills, averaging 4.71 per set, across the Tomcats' home victories over Allegheny and Waynesburg last week to improve to 7-1 in league play and 5-0 at home, their best home start since 1984.
Against reigning-PAC champs Allegheny Wednesday, Jenness totaled a match-best 18 kills on .261 along with a pair of digs and a solo block. In Friday's sweep of Waynesburg, she led all attackers with 15 kills on .308 to go with two aces and digs each.
Jenness is third in Division III in attempts per set (12.70) and 15th in kills per set (4.35). She has put up at least 10 kills in all but three matches this season while collecting six double-doubles, the second most on the Tomcats.
In the Thiel record book, she sits at 936 career kills as she aims to become the eighth player in team history to reach 1,000. Her 3.18 career kills per set is good for second in team history.
Women's Volleyball is on the road Wednesday at Geneva beginning at 7 p.m. The Tomcats swept the Golden Tornadoes in their first clash this season on Maenpa Court.
