Tomcats fall to Presidents

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College football team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents, 58-7, Saturday night under the lights at Alumni Stadium.

The Presidents scored with the first possession of the game, marching down the field on a six-play, 58-yard drive to take an early 7-0 lead.

The Tomcats were able to put together a drive to respond, picking up two first downs, before a false start penalty derailed the drive.

A Thiel punt pinned Washington & Jefferson inside the two yard-line, but a 12-yard pass play, followed by a Thiel penalty gave the Presidents the ball at their own 29 yard-line.

Washington & Jefferson took a 14-0 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half after Jacob Pugh found Sabron Felton in the endzone from 21 yards out.

The Presidents extended their lead on their next offensive possession, going up 21-0 with just under six minutes remaining.

After the ensuing kickoff was muffed, the Presidents were able to punch it into the endzone again, before a late touchdown gave the visitors a 34-0 halftime lead.

Washington & Jefferson scored on their first possession of the second half to go up 41-0.

Late into the third quarter, senior defensive lineman Luke Faber (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) intercepted Kellen Stahl and taking it into the endzone for a pick-six.

The Presidents would score one more touchdown in the third quarter, before a touchdown and a field goal in the fourth quarter rounded out the scoring.
