Tomcats split doubleheader with Cougars in season finale

MUNHALL, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team concluded its season Saturday with a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader against the Chatham Cougars at West Field in Munhall, Pa. Chatham won 3-1 in the first game. Thiel won 2-0 in the second game.
 
Game 1: Chatham 3, Thiel 1
 
The Tomcats took the lead 1-0 in the first inning on Abby Rottman's (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) single down the right field line.
 
Chatham responded with one run apiece in the second, third and fourth innings.
 
Rottman went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
 
Chatham's Victoria Murren struck out seven and allowed three walks. She allowed one run on four hits.
 
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) struck out three batters for the Tomcats.
 
Game 2: Thiel 2, Chatham 0
 
The Tomcats scored both of their runs in the sixth inning. Rottman drove in the first run on a single to left field. Kylie Heid (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) scored the other run on a wild pitch.
 
Rottman went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
 
Becca Landis (Kinsman, Ohio/Mathews) struck out seven Chatham batters to earn the complete game shutout. It was her fifth win of the season. Landis allowed four hits and one walk.
 
Murren struck out five batters. She allowed two runs on four hits.
 
The Tomcats went 13-23 overall and 8-12 in PAC play in 2024.
