PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team defeated the La Roche Redhawks on the road Wednesday, 25-5.
The Tomcats led 4-1 at the end of the first quarter and cruised to their third straight win.
Chase Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) led the Tomcats with 14 points and 12 goals, both of which set new single-game program records.
Lawler broke Tim O'Shea's points record (12), which stood since March 19, 2016. He broke his own goals record (9), which he shared with O'Shea.
Lawler took 19 shots Wednesday, 16 of which were on goal. He also picked up 12 ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) recorded seven points (4G, 3A) and scooped 12 ground balls.
Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) tallied five points (4G, 1A).
Che Fuqua (Clairton, Pa./Lincoln Park Charter) notched four points (3G, 1A) while
John Robbins (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) tallied three points (1G, 2A).
Bryce Knauf (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) went 12-for-12 in faceoffs, picked up 11 ground balls and tallied two points (1G, 1A).
Austin Parker (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) contributed 13 faceoff wins.
Robert Johnson paced the Redhawks with three points (2G, 1A).
Conner Radecki made 22 saves for La Roche.
Ethan Narby (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) made seven saves to pick up his third win of the season.
Thiel will host the Allegheny Gators at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday, April 3. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
