STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Thiel Women's Basketball team dropped their road contest against the Franciscan Barons 77-59 this afternoon.
In the first quarter, Thiel led 16-10, keeping the Barons 3-12 from the field and 2-6 from the three-point line.
Freshman Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) led Thiel's offense with 16 points, had a team high five assists, and went 5-7 from the field. Green added five rebounds and two steals to help on the defensive end.
Kayley Risser (Reynolds, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) put up 10 points and went 2-2 from the free throw line.
Sophomore Kelsey Seddon (Cochranton, Pa./Lakeview) had a team high eight rebounds and added 7 points to the Tomcat offense.
Catherine Kelly (Butler, Pa./Moniteau) added 8 points, while having a team high three steals.
The Barons had four players that dominated the offense; Maria McCallen (20), Abbigail Jannuzi (19), Jazzlyn Melnyk (15), and Ilena Gonzales (14).
Melnyk and Gonzales both had a double-double, Melnyk with 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Gonzales with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
McCallen grabbed nine boards, three assists, and two steals.
The Tomcats remain on the road when they travel to Hiram, Ohio Monday, December 9. The non-conference match-up will begin at 6 p.m.
