GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College women's basketball team fell to Westminster 71-43 Wednesday night in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats fall to 0-8 on the year and 0-5 in PAC competition. The Titans rise to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
In the first half, Thiel was able to keep Westminster to 14-of-37 (37.8%) from the field and 5-of-13 (38.5%) from the 3-point line.
Freshman Kayley Risser (Reynolds, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) led the Tomcat offense with 15 points and went 7-of-10 from the field. Defensively, Risser collected six boards, two blocks and one steal.
Catherine Kelly (Butler, Pa./Moniteau) added to Thiel's score with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Kelly led the team with two steals and grabbed two rebounds.
Freshman Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) had a team-high seven rebounds, while also picking up two blocks and one assist.
Westminster's offense was led by Grace Cano (16 points), Ella Kassan (12) and Katie Maryo (11). Cano had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Kassan had seven boards. Emily Hess led the Titans' on the glass with 10 rebounds.\
The Tomcats next contest will be at PAC foe Franciscan on Saturday at 4 p.m.
