WOOSTER, Ohio – The Thiel women's basketball team fell to the Fredonia State Blue Devils 89-69 in their season opener at the Nan Nichols Classic at Wooster College.
Freshman Kayley Risser (Reynolds, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) lead the team with a career high of 17 points, two assists, and two rebounds. She shot 8-17 from the field and recorded one steal.
Off the bench, Catherine Kelly (Butler, Pa./Moniteau) (12) and Giovanna Castro (Frisco, Texas/Heritage) (10) both had 10+ point games, contributing to the Tomcat offense. Kelly recorded three assists, and five rebounds while Castro picked up one block and two rebounds.
Kelsey Seddon (Cochranton, Pa./Lakeview) led the team in rebounds with six while Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) grabbed eight steals, making that a career high.
Fredonia State's Annika Anderson led the team with 17 points, two steals, and four rebounds. Peyton Gilbert added 14 points and 13 rebounds to help the Blue Devils to victory.
The Tomcats are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, November 9th when they face off against Wooster College. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
