Late push not enough for Tomcats against Cougars

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Chatham Cougars, 2-1, on the road Wednesday night.

Chatham scored 12 minutes into the match to take a quick 1-0 lead. About 15 minutes later, the Cougars doubled their lead to have a two-goal advantage at halftime.

Thiel freshman Imogen deBlois (Hubbard, Ohio/Howland) pulled the Tomcats within one goal in the 86th minute, but it would not be enough for the Tomcats to rescue a draw on the road.

Thiel was led by deBlois, who recorded one goal on five shots. Allie Kidder (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) recorded an assist. Hannah Brady (Conneautville, Pa./Conneaut Area) recorded a shot on goal.

Chatham was led by Ainsley Smith who recorded 11 shots and scored one goal. Elizabeth Gallup recorded one goal on six shots.

In goal for Thiel, Madison Rodgers (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) recorded 13 saves.

In goal for Chatham, Katie Krecek recorded two saves.

The Tomcats return to Alumni Stadium on Saturday when they host the Grove City Wolverines. The PAC game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
