Cougars edge Tomcats, Biggers records first collegiate double-double

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Chatham Cougars, 60-59, Wednesday night at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.

The Tomcats began the game with a 7-0 run. However, Chatham responded with a 12-0 to take an early 12-7 lead.

The Cougars would lead by as much as 13 in the first half. Thiel was able to cut the deficit to 10 heading into halftime.

The Tomcats kept chipping away at the Cougars lead, eventually evening up the game with 13:30 left to play in regulation.

Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) tied the game at 59 with 29 seconds left. A Chatham free-throw, and an Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) missed three-pointer at the buzzer gave Chatham the one-point win.

Thiel was led by freshman forward Jonah Biggers (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) who recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds, his first collegiate double-double. Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) recorded 14 points, while Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) recorded six points and grabbed nine boards. Khamari Accursio-Harris (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) recorded four points and nine boards, while Gabriel Gonzalez (Merida, Venezuela/Southwest Miami) recorded six points and two helpers.

Chatham was led by Diaun Pinkett who recorded 17 points and corralled 13 boards. Blaine Gartley and Luca Robinson recorded 10 points each.

The Tomcats (7-14, 6-10 PAC) will hit the road once again as they travel to Washington and Jefferson (6-14, 5-10 PAC) for a conference game. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
