GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team won its season opener Saturday over the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats, 2-1. The game was played at Dicks Sporting Goods Field on the campus of Seton Hill University.
Pierson Badowski (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) scored Thiel's first goal, which was unassisted, at the 20:14 mark of the first half.
Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard) made is 2-0 roughly 14 minutes later on a pass from
Grant Becker (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted).
Jake McClintock scored Pitt Greensburg's goal in the 84
th minute, but the Tomcats held on for their first season-opening win since 2018.
Nick Kristian (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) made six saves for Thiel. Nick Braun made one save for Pitt Greensburg.
The Tomcats will host the Hiram Terriers Sunday at Alumni Stadium. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
