GREENVILLE, Pa. – Senior
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) scored eight goals, including the 150
th of her career, Wednesday in a 25-16 non-conference loss to the Marietta Pioneers at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
Johnson's 150
th goal was unassisted with 6:23 remaining in the third quarter. Johnson's seventh marker of the game cut Marietta's lead down to 17-13.
Johnson became just the fifth player in program history to score 150 goals, joining Cassy Mahdi (229), Mackenzie Quinn (203), Emily Harrigan (178) and Paige Scherer (150).
Johnson recorded nine points (8G, 1A) Wednesday. She also tallied three caused turnovers, three draw controls and three ground balls.
Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) made it a three-goal game (19-16) early in the fourth quarter, but Marietta finished the game with six unanswered goals to clinch the non-conference win.
Wightman scored five goals and tallied 10 draw controls.
Camy Seman (Conneautville, Pa./Conneaut Area) scored three goals and had four draw controls.
Hope Adams (8G, 1A) and Megan McGriff (2G, 7A) led Marietta with nine points apiece.
Abby May made 15 saves for the Pioneers.
Annie Boyd (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) made three saves for the Tomcats.
Thiel (4-3) will face Allegheny (5-2) on the road Saturday in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener for both teams. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
