BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team defeated the Medaille Mavericks, 3-0, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match Tuesday night.
 
Thiel won in straight sets 25-23, 25-15, 25-13.
 
Thiel was led by JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) who notched a team-high nine kills. Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) each tallied eight kills and two blocks. Dies also recorded a .583 hitting percentage.  Josh Hovan (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) recorded seven digs, while Josh Pugh (Wexford, Pa./Pine Richland) recorded a game-high 28 assists.
 
Medaille was led by Malachi Jackson who recorded a game-high 10 kills and five digs. Kevin Cashdollar recorded 24 assists, while Gay Doh Htoo tallied eight digs.
 
The Tomcats will compete in the Adrian Quad this weekend. They will Maranatha Baptist University on Friday. The non-conference game is schedule to begin at 7 p.m.
