BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes, 82-62, Wednesday night on the road at Metheny Fieldhouse.
Geneva led 45-33 at halftime, before outscoring Thiel 37-19 in the second half.
The Tomcats would cut the deficit to six points, but the Golden Tornadoes were able to respond.
Thiel was led by
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) who recorded his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) also recorded double-digit points, going for 11 points and two rebounds.
Mike Brown (Clinton, Md./Gwynn Park) notched nine points and corralled three boards, while
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) recorded six rebounds and three assists.
Geneva had four double-digit scorers. Payton Triplett led all scorers with 18 points, while Jonathan Bertovich recorded 14 points and four rebounds. Trevor Tipton and Mark Rachic each recorded 10 points.
The Tomcats will host the Franciscan Barons in the home opener on Saturday. The PAC game is set to tip off at 3 p.m.
