SANDUSKY, Ohio – The Thiel College women's volleyball team went 1-1 Saturday during the second and final day of competition at the Great Lakes Cross Over, hosted by Heidelberg University, at the Cedar Point Sports Center.
The Tomcats lost 3-0 to the Bluffton Beavers Saturday morning before earning a 3-0 win over the Capital Comets.
Bluffton defeated Thiel by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-23.
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) led the Tomcats with 10 kills and four blocks against the Beavers.
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) tallied nine kills.
Brooke Talbot (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local) recorded 16 assists while
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) led all players with 16 digs.
Thiel went on to defeat the Comets in straight sets 26-24, 25-21, 25-21.
Torres registered 16 kills, 10 digs and three aces against Capital. McDonald notched nine kills. Talbot handed out 32 assists while Aulet had 16 digs.
The Tomcats went 2-2 overall at the Great Lakes Cross Over. They will participate in the Pam Briggs Classic next Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Thiel will face Otterbein at 4 p.m. and Earlham at 8 p.m.
