STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Thiel College women's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference match to the Franciscan Barons, 5-1, Wednesday night.
The Barons broke the deadlock just 16 minutes into the match. The Barons would score four goals in a 14 minute span to break the game open, and lead 4-0 at the halftime break.
Franciscan would add one more goal in the 53
rd minute, while the Tomcats would convert a 68
th minute penalty kick to finish the scoring.
For the Tomcats, senior
Arlene Barreto (Covina, Calif./Bishop Amat Memorial) recorded the team's only goal. Barreto also led the Tomcats with three shots. In net, junior
Samantha Hoffman (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) recorded eight saves in the match.
For the Barons, Tania Davidson led the team with two goals and two assists. Anni Winogradoff, Juliana Rubino and Maria De La Torre each recorded a goal. In net, Rebekka Dill and Bri DeChristopher combined to make two saves in the match.
The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday for senior day when the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets come to Alumni Stadium for a Presidents' Athletic conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
