GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference match to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes, 2-1, on Friday afternoon.
The game remained scoreless throughout the first half. Just under two minutes after the second half got under way, the Tomcats gave up a penalty kick. The Golden Tornadoes would convert the penalty to take a 1-0 lead. The Tomcats would get the equalizer with just under 20 minutes remaining in the match. But the Golden Tornadoes would score the game winning goal with just under five minutes to go in the match to finish 2-1.
For the Tomcats, freshman
Marysa Chuey (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) would record her first collegiate goal. Freshman
Tessa Allison (Akron, Ohio/Field) would record the assist on Chuey's goal. In net for the Tomcats, senior
Bethany Bonnar (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) recorded a season high 13 saves in the match.
For the Golden Tornadoes, Emma Daku-Treas recorded a goal through the penalty kick. Saige Musser also recorded a goal. In goal, Jade Farnsworth recorded eight saves.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Franciscan University for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match against the Barons. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
