BEXLEY, Ohio – The Thiel College women's volleyball team concluded play in the Pam Briggs Classic Saturday with wins over the Defiance Yellow Jackets (3-2) and the Hanover Panthers (3-1).
Thiel defeated Defiance in five sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-13, 22-25, 15-12).
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) led the Tomcats with 17 kills to go along with 11 digs, three aces and two blocks.
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Oregon/Pendleton) tallied 13 kills while
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) recorded 12 digs and 11 kills.
Also for the Tomcats,
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) registered eight kills and four blocks while
Jordyn Liedike (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) contributed eight kills and two blocks.
Brooke Talbot (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local) and
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) led all players with 48 assists and 19 digs, respectively.
The Tomcats beat the Panthers by scores of 16-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19. Gregory tallied 14 digs and 13 kills while McDonald had 11 kills. Eaton and Jenness chipped in with eight kills apiece. Talbot notched 37 assists while Aulet contributed 14 digs.
Thiel will host a tournament at Beeghly Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Thiel will face SUNY Brockport at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Tomcats will take on the Alma Scots at noon and the Grove City Wolverines at 4 p.m.
