Wightman, Johnson lead Tomcats to 16-9 win over Bison

BETHANY, W.Va. – Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) scored eight goals and Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) recorded eight points (6G, 2A) for the Thiel College women's lacrosse team Saturday in a 16-9 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) road win over the Bethany Bison.
 
Bethany led 4-3 after one quarter, but Thiel scored five unanswered goals in the second quarter to hold an 8-4 lead at halftime.
 
Wightman scored the game-tying goal less than a minute into the second quarter. She gave the Tomcats the lead, which they would not give up the remainder of the game, at the 11:27 mark.
 
Wightman's eight goals tied her for the fourth-most in a single-game in program history. She also recorded seven draw controls and five ground balls in the team's fifth PAC win of the season.
 
Johnson, who scored the game-winning goal in the third quarter, also recorded six ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
 
Cassidy Mailloux paced the Bison with six points (5G, 1A). She also registered eight draw controls and three ground balls.
 
Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) made 12 saves for the Tomcats to earn her seventh win of the season. Liggett also picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers. Trinity Dixon made 17 saves for Bethany.
