PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team concluded play in the Steel City Freeze Tournament at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center Sunday with a 3-0 non-conference loss to the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders.
Mount Union won by set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 26-24.
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) paced the Tomcats with six kills.
Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and
Connor McInnis (Southington, Conn. /Southington) tallied five kills apiece.
Brandon Millias (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse ) recorded 15 assists while
Ricky Castillo (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) registered seven digs.
Luke Trzeciak and Cameron Ternent led the Purple Raiders with 15 and 13 kills, respectively. Trzeciak and Ternent also combined for nine digs and six aces.
The Tomcats will face the Juniata Eagles on the road Tuesday. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
