WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team was defeated in their last road game of the regular season, 58-79, by the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Monday.
The two teams began close, tied 8-8 shortly into the contest. The Yellow Jackets then closed out the first quarter with a 12-2 run to take a 20-10 lead. The Tomcats could not close the gap and trailed by at least eight for the remainder of the game, the Yellow Jackets went on to win 79-58.
For the Tomcats,
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) notched her sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. She also added six assists and two blocks.
Rebecca Litz (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield) and
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) tied for the team lead with 12 points apiece and notched five and two rebounds, respectively.
Sha'nia Stiers-Royal (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with four rebounds.
Giana Arnese (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale) tallied a season-high seven points with two assists.
Emily Harriman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) dished out five assists.
For the Yellow Jackets, Brooke Fuller recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Madisen Dayton also notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Tomcats' next game will be at home on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against the Franciscan Barons.
