GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost, 51-86 to the Grove City Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday.
The Tomcats remained close and trailed just 4-6 early, but the Wolverines went on a 10-point run to take a 16-4 lead. The Wolverines led 24-6 at the end of the first quarter and maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the game to win 86-51.
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) led the Tomcats with 17 points and 14 rebounds. She also added three assists.
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) tallied 10 points with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Taylor Susany (Struthers, Ohio/Struthers) scored eight points with three rebounds.
Destiny Merriwether (Youngstown, Ohio/East) and
Colleen Trainer (Latrobe, Pa./Mount Pleasant) each grabbed seven boards.
For the Wolverines, Megan Kallock and Allison Podkul scored 14 and 12 points, respectively. Podkul also finished with 12 rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
The Tomcats' next game will be at Waynesburg on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
