GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team lost a non-conference match to the Penn State Behrend Lions Tuesday at Beeghly Gymnasium, 3-2.
The Tomcats won the first two sets (25-20, 25-23). PSU Behrend stay alive with a 25-20 win in the third set and went on to win the final two sets (25-19, 15-12) to steal the win.
Thiel's
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) led all players with 21 kills while also contributing 11 digs and five aces.
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) tallied 16 kills, five digs and a pair of blocks.
Brandon Millias (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse ) dished out a match-best 49 assists while
Ricky Castillo (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) registered 15 digs.
Cody Schnur led the Lions with 15 kills and six blocks while JP Goodsel had 10 kills and eight digs. Adrian Martinez led the visitors with 12 digs.
The Tomcats will participate in a 2-day event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Thiel will face Wittenberg at 10 a.m. and Nazareth at 2 p.m.
