GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost their final game of the 2022 season Saturday on the road to Grove City Wolverines, 66-6.
With the win, Grove City retained possession of the Mercer County Cup. The Wolverines lead the Cup series, 26-12.
Thiel scored in the second quarter on a 39-yard pass from
Zech Sanderson (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) to
Jorden Collier (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln).
Sanderson completed 12 passes on the day for 120 yards.
Blake Joseph (Cannonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) caught five passes for 27 yards. In addition to his 39-yard touchdown reception, Collier ran for 26 yards on 12 carries.
Logan Pfeuffer completed 13-of-15 passes for Grove City for 272 yards. He threw three touchdown passes. Scott Fraser caught six passes, one of which was a touchdown reception, for 125 yards.
Clayton Parrish, who scored two touchdowns on the ground, ran for 59 yards on 10 attempts.
Safety
Darnell Jordan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Westinghouse) led Thiel's defense with seven tackles. Cornerback
Caleb Shuler (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) made five tackles and broke up two passes.
Ryan Fleming made five tackles for the Wolverines, 3.5 of which were behind the line of scrimmage. He also recovered a fumble.
