NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on the road Saturday to the Westminster Titans, 41-6.
Westminster held a 13-0 lead at halftime. Tyler McGowan threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Damon Maul for the first points of the game near the end of the first quarter. Ryan Gomes scored on a six-yard run midway through the second quarter.
McGowan threw two more touchdown passes in the third quarter, a 25-yarder to Chevy Dawson and a 12-yarder to Maul.
Thiel also scored in the third quarter on a 62-yard pass from
Alexander Kovalyak (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) to
Alexander Anderson (Warren, Pa./Warren).
Kovalyak completed 5-of-15 passes for 83 yards.
Owen Trumbull (Bear Lake, Pa./Eisenhower) also completed nine passes.
Anderson caught two passes for 73 yards.
Deon Logan (Richmond, Va./James River) caught four passes for 26 yards.
McGowan completed 11-of-17 passes for 117 yards. He threw three touchdown passes. Gomes led Westminster on the ground with 152 yards and a pair of scores on 30 carries.
Randall Miller (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) led Thiel with 10 tackles.
Caleb Shuler (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) intercepted a pass while
Jaellen Rose (Midlothian, Va./James River) recorded a sack.
Brayden Thimons tallied five tackles for Westminster, 3.5 of which were behind the line of scrimmage. He also had two sacks.
The Tomcats will host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets next Saturday. Kickoff for the PAC game is slated for 7 p.m.
