WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost, 82-66 to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Tuesday evening.
The Tomcats and Presidents remained close, as the contest was tied 21-21 with 6:17 left in the first half. The Presidents took control in the rest of the half, but the Tomcats remained close as the Presidents led 37-32.
The Tomcats started the second half with six straight points to take a 38-37 lead. The Presidents answered with a 17-4 run to take a 54-42 lead with 13:19 left in the game. The Presidents led by at least eight points for the rest of the game to win 82-66.
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) led the Tomcats with 13 points and added seven rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) and
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) each notched 10 points. The pair notched six and five rebounds, respectively. Hooper led the team with two blocks.
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) scored six points and grabbed six rebounds. Eight Tomcats scored at least five points in the game.
For the Presidents, Nick Gearhart and J.R. Mazza tallied 21 points apiece. Kyran Mitchell scored 17 points with 11 rebounds.
The Tomcats host the Grove City Wolverines at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
