GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Chatham Cougars Wednesday at Beeghly Gymnasium, 68-52.
Thiel trailed by 15 points at halftime (37-22). After winning the third quarter (18-11), the Tomcats cut the lead down to six points (48-42) early in the fourth quarter after
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) made a pair of free-throws. Chatham refused to allow Thiel to get any closer the rest of the way.
Johnson led Thiel with 11 points and a game-best 13 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season.
Emily Grandy (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) came off the bench to score 10 points to go along with four rebounds.
Emily Harriman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) tallied eight points, five rebounds and five assists.
Destiny Merriwether (Youngstown, Ohio/East) scored seven points and corralled five rebounds.
Chatham's Julianna Skowron led all players with 14 points. Brittani Smith scored 12 points while Riley D'Angelo scored 11 points and led her team with nine rebounds.
Thiel will face Westminster on the road Saturday. The PAC game is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
