BRADFORD, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team tied, 2-2, with the Pitt-Bradford Panthers in a non-conference game Wednesday evening.
The Tomcats got on the board first, with less than two minutes left in the first half. However, the lead would not last long as the Panthers scored just 47 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1 going into halftime.
The Tomcats took a 2-1 lead with less than 12 minutes remaining in the game, but the Panthers answered with a goal with less than five minutes left in regulation to send the game to overtime. In the overtime periods, the Tomcats outshot the Panthers four to one, but neither team could bury a goal, leading to the 2-2 tie.
For the Tomcats,
Kelly Clark (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) scored the first goal.
Kaleigh Atkins (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) assisted Clark on the goal.
Loren Swords (Lisbon, Ohio/United) scored the Tomcats' goal in the second half.
Kate Sollers (Suffield, Ohio/Field) and
Taylor Warner (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) each record four shots, three on goal. Goalkeeper
Samantha Hoffman (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) saved five shots in the 110-minute contest.
For the Panthers, Carolelyn LaPrairie and Delaney Stowe each recorded a goal. LaPrairie totaled three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Emily Bethel tallied nine saves in 110 minutes.
The Tomcats next game will be next Wednesday at 6 p.m. when they host the Bluffton Beavers at Alumni Stadium.
