Tomcats conclude season with doubleheader sweep over Bison

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Thiel College baseball team won both games in a doubleheader against the Bethany Bison on Friday. The Tomcats won the first game, a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match, 12-7, and the second game, a non-conference contest, 9-5.
 
In game one, The Tomcats were lifted to a 12-7 victory by a six-run fourth inning and a three-run fifth inning. In game two, the Tomcats took an early 3-0 lead, and led 3-2 entering the sixth inning. In the sixth, the Tomcats once again were boosted by a six-run inning, and would go on to win, 9-5.
 
In game one, Trey Williams (Jeromesville, Ohio/Hillsdale) reached base four times on two hits and two walks and recorded two RBIs and three runs. Jamin Wentling (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) notched three RBIs in the game. Chase Morrison (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) hit a two-RBI double as part of the six-run fourth inning. Travis Harvey (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) earned the win, pitching seven innings of three-run ball and striking out nine.
 
In game two, Williams reached base two more times and recorded two runs and an RBI. Anthony Sebastian (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) and Seth Johnson (Magnolia, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) each got a pair of hits. Sebastian also tallied two RBIs and Johnson tallied two runs. Alec Gamble (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour), Nash Matson (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong), and Anthony Rago (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) each recorded a hit, a run, and an RBI apiece. Max Siguenza (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) earned the win, pitching 4.1 innings of two-run ball while striking out five.
 
For the Bison, Cameron Schaub recorded three RBIs in game one. Kyle Goodwin tallied four hits with a run and an RBI in game two. Alec Berg and Kyle D'Angela were charged with losses in game one and game two, respectively.
 
The Tomcats finished the regular season at 14-20 (9-18 PAC).
