WASHINGTON, Pa. – The third-seeded Thiel Tomcats lost to the top-seeded Washington & Jefferson Presidents Saturday 18-3 in the title game of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at Alexandre Stadium.
W&J opened the game with nine consecutive goals and never looked back in earning the PAC's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Freshman
Ashlyn Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) paced the Tomcats Saturday with two goals, seven draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) scored a goal while also recording three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control.

Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) were named to the PAC All-Tournament Team. Wightman tallied eight points (6G, 2A) and 11 draw controls in two tournament games. Johnson tallied 10 points (7G, 3A), eight ground balls and five draw controls in the tournament. Quinn, who tallied her 200
th career goal in a 23-18 semifinal win over the Chatham Cougars on Wednesday, tallied eight points (7G, 1A) and eight ground balls in two tournament games.
Amanda Effland led W&J Saturday with nine points (3G, 6A) while Sofia Jenkins tallied four points (2G, 2A).
Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and
Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) combined to make eight saves for Thiel. Kaitlyn Brown made 10 saves for W&J.
Thiel finished the 2021 season 7-3 overall and 4-2 in PAC play. Thiel was playing in its first conference tournament championship game since 2015. The Tomcats appeared in three consecutive conference title games from 2013-15.
