GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats' women's basketball team lost its final game of the regular season to the Chatham Cougars, 60-37, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) bout.
The Tomcats kicked off the scoring with a layup; however, the Tomcats were held scoreless the rest of the quarter as the Cougars scored 17 unanswered points to take a 17-2 lead going into the second quarter. Chatham's early lead proved to be too much for Thiel, as the Cougars held a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the contest.
The Tomcats were led in points by
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) with eight. Johnson and
Rebecca Litz (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield) shared the team high in rebounds with eight. Litz also added five points.
Indea Phillips (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) chipped in seven points and six rebounds.
The Cougars were led by Maddy Grennes and Kaitlyn Fertig, who recorded 12 and 11 points, respectively, and eight rebounds apiece. Fertig also contributed four steals in the win.
The Tomcats' next game and opponent will be announced later this week with the PAC Championship Tournament play-in games slated to start Saturday, March 13 and the quarterfinals starting Monday, March 15.
