WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats women's basketball team lost to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, 64-47, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game.
The Tomcats kept the game close early, down just two with four minutes left in the first quarter, 12-10. The Yellow Jackets stretched their lead, scoring 10 unanswered points in the first quarter and beginning of the second quarter.
Rachel Breckenridge (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) hit a three-pointer to close out the first half for Thiel still within striking distance down 38-28. However, Waynesburg would not let up and held onto the lead through the rest of the game.
The Tomcats were led by 16 points and eight rebounds from
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western).
Rachel Breckenridge (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) finished with eight points, including two three-pointers.
Emily Harriman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) recorded a team-high three steals, while
Colleen Trainer (Latrobe, Pa./Mount Pleasant) led the Tomcats with three assists.
Rebecca Litz (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield) notched eight rebounds off the bench.
The Yellow Jackets were led by a double-double from Andrea Orlosky with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Fuller and Avery Robinson chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Tomcats close out the regular season hosting the Chatham Cougars, Monday at 6 p.m.
