GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team defeated the Bethany Bison, 14-9, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown.
The Tomcats struck first with a goal less than a minute in. The Bison answered with a goal to tie the game at one at the 12:21 mark. Less than a minute later, the Tomcats took the lead and later added two more to take a 4-1 lead. The Tomcats held at least a two goal lead the remainder of the contest, bolstered by a five-goal run in the second and third quarter.
For the Tomcats,
Jeffrey Karnoff (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central) scored six goals, tying a career high, and recorded an assist.
Pat Hartnett (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) notched five assists, tying a single-game school record for a single game.
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) added three goals and an assist.
Mario Demma (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and
Selom Kalin-Samlan (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) each scored two goals.
Dylan Waskiewicz (York, Pa./Red Lion) led the game with 11 ground balls and finished 19-for-26 on face-offs.
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) earned the win with 14 saves.
For the Bison, Joshua Ellegra led with three goals. Khoury Kloss finished with four assists. Clay Yingling also added three assists. Andrew Smith saved 17 shots and allowed 14 goals.
The Tomcats' next game will be on the road against the Barons on Saturday, April 10. The game is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.
