GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team fell in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game against the Grove City Wolverines, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.
The Wolverines struck early and often, with six goals in the first 12 minutes en route to their victory. The Wolverines added another goal before halftime and no goals were scored by either team in the second half.
For the Tomcats,
Arlene Barreto (Covina, Calif./Bishop Amat Memorial) finished with two shots, both on goal.
Emily Harriman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva),
Nicole Pereksta (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge),
Hannah Strott (Mogadore, Ohio/Field), and
Kate Sollers (Suffield, Ohio/Field) each recorded a shot on goal.
Samantha Hoffman (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) had two saves in the first half.
Bethany Bonnar (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) subbed in at goalie to start the second half and finished the game with five saves and zero goals allowed in 45 minutes.
For the Wolverines, Hailey Weinert tallied two goals and an assist. Maggie Williams also notched two goals. Columbia Harkrader finished with six saves in the shutout.
The Tomcats' next game will be a PAC contest at Westminster next Saturday. The game is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.
