WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team closed out regular season play Wednesday with an 83-74 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss on the road to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents.
The Presidents led 39-33 at halftime and went on to lead by as many as 21 points in the second half. The Tomcats got within five points twice late in regulation, but the Presidents held on for their seventh win of the season.
Beni Lavodrama (Washington, D.C./Phelps ACE) led Thiel with 14 points.
John Aarestrup (Miami, Fla./Archbishop Coleman Carroll) scored 10 points and corralled six rebounds.
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) and
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) chipped in with nine points apiece.
W&J's Cameron Seemann scored a game-high 27 points while Jake Livingston scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Thiel finished the regular season with a 3-6 record.
The PAC Men's Basketball Tournament will begin Saturday, March 13 with play-in games. The tournament quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, March 16.
