GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats were eliminated from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament Tuesday night after suffering a 3-2 quarterfinal loss to the Grove City Wolverines at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Grove City won the first set 25-19, but Thiel held a 2-1 lead after winning 25-22 and 25-14 in the second and third sets, respectively. Grove City went on to win 25-17 in the fourth set and moved on to the semifinal round with a 15-11 win in the fifth set.
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) led fourth-seeded Thiel with a match-best 22 kills to go along with 11 digs.
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) and
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) recorded nine kills apiece. Eaton also registered 15 digs while McDonald notched four blocks.
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) had eight kills and four blocks.
Danielle Aulet (Austintown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) led all players with 45 assists while also contributing 19 digs.
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) recorded a match-best 38 digs.
Eloise Augustine led fifth-seeded Grove City with 20 kills while also recording 11 digs. Faith Keating tallied 25 digs and 17 kills. Mya Lathem led the Wolverines with 34 digs.
Grove City will face top-seeded Westminster on the road in a tournament semifinal match on Thursday.
