GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team earned the fourth seed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament, which will begin Tuesday with a pair of quarterfinal matches.
Thiel will host fifth-seeded Grove City at Beeghly Gymnasium in one of the quarterfinal matches on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Third-seeded Chatham will host No. 6 Geneva in the other quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
Thiel is appearing in the conference championship tournament for the third time in the last four years. The Tomcats last hosted a tournament match in 2014. Thiel has played in the tournament title match three times (2009, 2010, 2012).
The Tomcats, who went 10-5 in October, finished the regular season with an 11-7 record in league play, including a pair of 3-0 wins over Grove City.
Westminster is the No. 1 seed in the tournament while Bethany is the No. 2 seed. Both receive first-round byes.
Westminster and Bethany will host semifinal matches on Thursday, November 4. Westminster will host the winner of Thiel-Grove City at 7 p.m. Bethany will host the winner of Chatham-Geneva at 7 p.m.
The title match, which will be played Saturday, Nov. 6, will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed following Thursday's semifinal round.
The winner of the PAC Championship Tournament will receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The PAC is one of 44 conferences granted automatic qualification (Pool A) to the NCAA Division III Championship.
