Tomcats defeated by Golden Tornadoes

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team was defeated, 3-1, by the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday.

The Golden Tornadoes began the scoring with back-to-back goals, just 29 seconds apart at 33:20 and 33:49. That proved to be enough as the Tomcats drew within one with a goal in the second half, but could not add another, as the Golden Tornadoes went on to win, 3-1.

Skylar Garlick (Fort Loudon, Pa./James Buchanan) scored for the Tomcats, her third goal of the season, with all three coming in the last five games. Garlick also led the Tomcats with two shots on goal. Loren Swords (Lisbon, Ohio/United) and Kelly Clark (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) assisted Garlick on the goal. It was Clark's first assist as a Tomcat, and Swords' second assist on the season. For the goalkeepers, Bethany Bonnar (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) tallied two saves in the first half and Samantha Hoffman (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) totaled four saves in the second half.

For the Golden Tornadoes, Katie Bodenmiller, Lexi Meese, and Katherine Estep scored, with assists from Lydia Beare and Olivia Mincone. Goaltender Jade Farnsworth made four saves in the match.

The Tomcats will have their first home PAC game of season Tuesday against the Grove City Wolverines. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
